On 11 September 2025, the ROCIT Czech team organised a facilitated conversation dedicated to the preparation of a policy brief. The meeting, moderated by Bohdan Smieška from PDCS Bratislava, built on insights gathered during previous focus groups and interviews with Romani NGO representatives who have been supporting Romani refugees from Ukraine since 2022.
The discussion focused on how to translate these findings into concrete recommendations for public policy, particularly regarding the treatment of Romani refugees during the “Ukrainian refugee crisis.”
The proposed policy brief, which we hope to launch in early 2026, will summarise key lessons and recommendations. The participants discussed its structure, content, and next steps, including potential avenues for publication.
The Czech team thanks all participants for their collaboration, openness, and contributions, which continue to shape this collective effort to ensure that the experiences of Ukrainian Romani refugees and those supporting them are meaningfully reflected in public debate and policy.
