ABSTRACT: This article examines the intersection of individual and cultural trauma within the Romani community, focusing on the dual challenges faced by Romani refugees from Ukraine. It explores how systemic antigypsyism influences their migration experience and shapes their cultural identity. Using an autoethnographic approach, the author, a psychologist and Romni, reflects on the unique challenges of providing psychological support as both an insider and a professional. The study underscores the role of trauma narratives in preserving collective memory and identity while highlighting the risk of retraumatisation. By addressing the complex dynamics of cultural identity, psychological resilience, and systemic discrimination, the research contributes to understanding the lived experiences of marginalised groups in crisis.
