Our team members recently participated in a conference that took place in Uzhhorod, Ukraine, from June 13-15, 2024 with a round table: “And for the War to End” – Ukrainian Roma oral histories as part of the oral history and testimonies of displacement within and from Ukraine.
Local and Global Impacts of the War in Ukraine
On June 6-7, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague hosted a conference titled “Local and Global Impacts of the War in Ukraine.” The ROCIT team organized a panel on “Unequal Citizenship and Transnational Mobilisation of Polish, Czech, and Ukrainian Roma in the Face of the War in Ukraine”.

On June 27-30, 2024, our team members presented their research on RUTA’s inaugural conference in Ukraine. Their presentation, part of the ROCIT project, examined the ambivalent reception of Ukrainian Roma in Poland as forced migrants and contextualized this within the broader historical experiences of Roma marginalization.
