ROCIT team present at FEANTSA Forum 2026

On the 19th of May 2026 Elżbieta Mirga-Wójtowicz and Kamila Fiałkowska from the CMR UW joined FEANTSA (European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless) Forum in Warsaw.

The panel on Race and Homelesness aimed to explore how racial inequalities shape experiences of homelessness and discuss what are the current discrimination experiences and anti-racism efforts within the homelessness sector.

Panel was chaired by Päivi Al-Tameemi, Moniheli ry, Finland and co-presenter was Henri Baptiste, co-founder and board member at Pathway Housing Solutions, UK. Our team focused on presenting the challenges in sheltering Ukrainian Roma in Poland and existing difficulties in securing acommodation in the light of phasing out temporary protection for displaced people from Ukraine.

The discussion touched upon why it is relevant to discuss about the connection between race & ethnicity and homelessness and how these issues manifest themselves in relation to Romani experiences in securing safe acommodation in Poland and racial inequality as well as in challenges faced by black families/communities in the homelessness system in the UK.
