Tetiana Storozhko
Tetiana Storozhko is a Roma activist, researcher, and educator hailing from Ukraine. With a career spanning over 16 years dedicated to Roma issues, Tetiana has engaged with various facets of Roma advocacy, from historical and cultural studies to teaching, awareness raising, activism, and human rights advocacy.
While pursuing her master’s degree in history and continuing as a graduate student, Tetiana delved into research on the history and culture of Roma in Central and Eastern Europe. This research laid the groundwork for numerous initiatives aimed at fostering intercultural dialogue, integrating Roma communities into Ukrainian society, and preserving their intangible cultural heritage.
As a passionate advocate for youth empowerment and marginalized communities, Tetiana has been at the forefront of efforts to champion the interests of Roma youth both nationally and internationally. Over the past 6 years, she has spearheaded successful initiatives for Roma youth development and implemented impactful programs addressing social issues.
Tetiana brings extensive experience in promoting non-formal education, advocating for human rights, and raising awareness about historical injustices. She is education professional, specializing in teaching and learning about the Roma genocide, promoting human rights, diversity, and tolerance, and combatting discrimination, antigypsyism, and xenophobia through non-formal education methods.
In 2023, Tetiana was honoured as a fellow of the UN OHCHR Minorities Rights Fellowship Program. Currently, she leads the non-governmental organization TENET – Center for Social Transformations. The organization’s mission revolves around empowering young Roma experts to serve as advocates and lobbyists for the Roma community. Amidst the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, TENET provides crucial support to community representatives and strategizes ways to engage Roma civil society in post-war reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.
