Yulian Kondur
Julian Kondur: Growing up in a family with a strong cultural and activist background, Yulian has been involved in Roma rights movement from early 2010s through organising anti-racism football matches, uniting local and foreign students in Kyiv of different ethnic background. In his early activist years he also organised a series of lectures on the history of Roma genocide in Ukraine held in the State libraries in various regions of Ukraine. Since 2014, with the annexation of the Crimean peninsula and occupation of parts of Donetsk and Luhansk region, Yulian was part of a number of initiatives on assisting Roma IDPs in accessing housing and humanitarian aid. During 2017-18, he was part of the ODIHR CPRSI team as a Junior Expert on Roma and Sinti issues, engaging with the CSOs and State authorities on the situation of Roma in Ukraine, as well as in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Later on, since 2018 he assumed the position of project coordinator at the Roma Women Fund “Chiricli” and focused on hate crimes monitoring, human rights compliant policing, and civic and political education for aspiring Roma activists.
In ROCIT project Yulian will focus on situation of Roma IDPs in Ukraine and Ukrainian Roma civil society struggles for equal treatment.
